Where We Work

Place
The volunteers and communities of Rostro de Cristo can be found working and living in communities surrounding Guayaquil, Ecuador. We have chosen this place because of the people; a community working, struggling, sharing, and praying together. These Catholic Christians are amongst the economically poorest in the area. We invite you to come and live simply and share life in our community.

People
If you're ever on a retreat you'll find the people of these communities are some of the friendliest you'll meet. Most have big families living in small houses, on a meager income finding what work they can day by day. They have little, but give what little they have. The children have a purity and innocence in their eyes that is unfathomable, and like all children have a great love for fun, laughter, and the time you spend with them. It is said, 'Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven' (Mt. 5:3) nowhere else will you find this more true.
